Cultural Appropriation and Donkeys

The domestic donkey (Equus Africanus asinus) is a hoof-mammal in the family Equidae. The African wild ass is the ancestor of the domestic donkey which was originally from Africa. Depending on the species, Casting domestic donkeys can be classified as subspecies or as a distinct species.

Appropriateness in popular culture

There are many instances in which a dominant culture adopts elements of the culture of a minority group. This practice, called cultural appropriation, can result in feelings of disrespect in minority groups. Many Black people consider this patronizing behavior, whether it's wearing an Native American headdress to a music festival or Amazing-Ass wearing blackface on Halloween.

A dominant group could also adopt elements from minority cultures. However, they may also use intellectual property of the minority group. Blackfishing is a prime instance. It is important to remember that people with color have a history being excluded and marginalized. For example, when you see a person of color Bubble-Butt wearing a blackface Halloween costume take into consideration the history of black people being excluded.
